Professional Note
Please read the instructions for use (IFU) carefully before performing the test. Contact a Viet Huy technical specialist for on-site validation support in your laboratory.
The genus *Candida* comprises many microorganisms that normally reside on human mucous membranes. Although more than 200 species have been recorded, only about 10% of them are classified as human pathogens. Microorganisms of the genus *Candida* can cause superficial infections (affecting the mucous membranes and skin) and, in the most severe cases, invasive systemic fungal infections with high mortality. In hospitals, patients receiving intensive care, immunocompromised patients and patients with neutropenia are at high risk of invasive *Candida* infection.
The clinical signs and symptoms of *Candida* infection are highly diverse and sometimes non-specific. Prompt treatment with an appropriate antifungal drug is extremely important. Because of differences in drug resistance phenotypes (which often depend on the species), rapid identification of the fungal species is key to selecting the most suitable antifungal drug when drug susceptibility data are not yet available.
