Viet Huy successfully transfers a MULTI-GENE targeted therapy testing solution to Binh Dan Hospital

Effective, Comprehensive Technology Transfer in Clinical Practice

With dedicated support from Viet Huy's team of specialists and the professional cooperation of the hospital's doctors and laboratory technicians, the transfer process went smoothly and effectively. The transferred MULTI-GENE test kit covers genes related to targeted therapy, such as KRAS, NRAS, BRAF, PIK3CA and AKT1, enabling comprehensive and accurate detection of mutations in colorectal cancer.

In just two days, the medical team mastered the use of this technology and kit, improving accuracy in making fast treatment decisions tailored to each patient.

A Step Forward in Targeted Therapy

Using the real-time PCR technique combined with the MULTI-GENE test kit, doctors can quickly detect gene mutations relevant to targeted therapy for colorectal cancer (CRC), including:

Gene Frequency in CRC (%) Main mutations identified Impact on therapy and prognosis
KRAS 36-40% Codon 12, 13 Resistance to anti-EGFR therapy (e.g., cetuximab, panitumumab). Screening recommended by ASCO.
NRAS 1-6% Exon 2 (codon 12/13), Exon 3 (codon 61), Exon 4 (codon 146) Resistance to anti-EGFR therapy in the absence of KRAS/BRAF mutations.
BRAF 8-10% V600E mutation Resistance to anti-EGFR therapy, poor prognosis, shorter disease-free and overall survival.
PIK3CA 10-30% Exon 9 (helical domain), Exon 20 (kinase domain) Associated with resistance to anti-EGFR therapy; a potential target for PI3K inhibitors.
AKT1 1-6% E17K mutation Reduced sensitivity to AKT inhibitors; usually lacks other driver mutations (EGFR, KRAS, ALK).

As a result, targeted therapy regimens are personalized for each patient, improving treatment effectiveness and quality of life.

The technology transfer at Binh Dan Hospital marks an important milestone, opening up opportunities for many colorectal cancer patients to access modern, optimal diagnostic and treatment solutions.
