Can Tho Oncology Scientific Seminar 2022 - 11th Edition

The annual "Can Tho Oncology Scientific Seminar" always attracts the interest of oncology physicians and medical staff nationwide and is a prestigious forum for colleagues to share and exchange experience on research, practical applications, and medical advances in controlling this disease.

Chair of the Seminar, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Chan Hung - President of the Vietnam Cancer Society. The Head of the Organizing Committee of the 11th Can Tho Oncology Scientific Seminar is Dr. Nguyen Truong Giang - Director of Can Tho City Oncology Hospital.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Nguyen Truong Giang - Director of Can Tho City Oncology Hospital and Head of the Organizing Committee - said: "At this year's seminar, for the first time, experts in cancer treatment from major provinces and cities across the country are presenting thematic reports. This is also an occasion to expand the hospital's regular and continuous international cooperation activities in order to strengthen training and professional development for our physicians and medical staff, giving them access to advanced medicine from around the world, especially the young physicians working in our clinical departments".

Over the two days of Oct 27 and 28, the 11th annual "Can Tho Oncology Scientific Seminar" will hold 21 thematic sessions on applied immunotherapy and molecular biology, general - hematology, lung - thoracic, breast - pediatric - gynecologic, palliative care - nursing, and pathology, along with satellite sessions.

This year's seminar was attended by more than 1200 delegates from major provinces and cities across the country, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen, Tien Giang, Quang Ninh, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Tra Vinh, etc., as well as healthcare facilities nationwide, medical universities, and pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies. VIET HUY Technological Scientific Equipment Co., Ltd (Viet Huy) introduced solutions for screening and diagnosing gene mutations across a wide variety of sample sources, such as FFPE solid tissue samples or ctDNA liquid biopsies, based on Real-time PCR or next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies.

Presentations on the effectiveness of targeted therapy in cancer patients showed that gene mutation diagnosis, which detects cancer-related mutations, is currently a screening and treatment approach recommended by the Ministry of Health (MOH). Genetic screening to look for lesions at the gene level not only helps predict cancer risk early but also helps physicians personalize treatment strategies and optimize preventive treatment for each individual patient.

The solutions presented included genetic testing for response to targeted therapy with Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors (TKIs) for various types of gene mutations, genetic testing methods using cfDNA/ctDNA sample sources, and the gene mutation types matched to new generations of cancer drugs approved by the FDA worldwide and in Vietnam.

Among the products introduced, the Entrogen diagnostic kits can detect many types of gene mutations such as EGFR, ALK, BRAF, KRAS, ROS... that are valuable in targeted therapy, and improve patient treatment outcomes through testing methods with high sensitivity and specificity for FFPE tissue samples, fresh tissue samples, cytology samples, and cell-free DNA (cfDNA) or circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) circulating freely in the blood.

In addition, the BRCA1/2 gene mutation screening solution covering all exons and adjacent introns enables screening for all mutations that carry a risk of breast cancer using next-generation sequencing (NGS). It is CE-IVD certified, with a testing workflow simplified by advanced R&D technology and a fast turnaround time (< 2 days). Devyser's Oncology testing solution meets full clinical testing standards and is comprehensive from workflow to results for an NGS test.

PATHOLOGY CONFERENCE - VIET HUY MAKES ITS MARK

On Apr 24, 2025, at the Scientific Conference on Pathology organized by Military Hospital 103, VIET HUY not only attended but also left a memorable mark. Over nearly 20 years of partnering with the healthcare sector, we have come to understand that each conference like this is not only a place to update knowledge but also a valuable opportunity to share our passion for solutions that help improve the quality of laboratory testing in Vietnam.
