Scientific Seminar at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Viet Huy Supports the Application of NGS Technology in Medicine
The seminar focused on prominent research topics and applications of NGS, especially breakthrough applications in modern medical diagnosis and treatment. Key topics presented at the event included:
- 1. Overview of next-generation sequencing (NGS) in medicine - A presentation by Dr. Trinh Thi Hong Cua - Head of the Department of Pathophysiology - Immunology, Faculty of Medicine, which helped attendees better understand the potential and medical applications of NGS, opening up new and promising research directions in diagnosis and treatment.
- 2. Application of NGS in diagnosing drug-resistance genes of tuberculosis bacteria - The presentation by Dr. Dinh Thi Huong Truc - Deputy Head of the Department of Pathophysiology - Immunology, Faculty of Medicine, focused on the potential of NGS in detecting and addressing drug-resistance genes, especially as tuberculosis faces an increasing risk of drug resistance.
- 3. Application of NGS in diagnosing globin gene mutations - Dr. Le Thi Hoang My - Head of the Department of Hematology, Faculty of Medicine, shared how NGS can detect globin gene mutations early, helping to diagnose and treat genetic diseases related to hemoglobin disorders.
- 4. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technical procedures - MSc. Vu Huu Nghiep, representing VIET HUY Technological Scientific Equipment Co., Ltd, introduced the technical procedure for running NGS and how to optimize this technology in practice. The presentation emphasized the important role of NGS in medical diagnosis.
Featured products from two manufacturers, AB Analitica and Devyser, were also introduced:
